Applying Faux Eye Lashes

Anyone who’s ever tried applying false eyelashes for the first time knows it’s not that easy.

Applying false eyelashes can be tricky. But there's no need to worry because practice makes perfect! Applying false lashes (like contouring) is one of those beauty processes that have to be taught. Once you've got the hang of it, your fake eyelashes will definitely transforms your look.

Picking the Perfect Set of Lashes

Choosing the right set of false lashes isn't just about picking the first pair you see. It's about understanding your needs and preferences. Here’s how you can pinpoint the ideal lashes:

Consider Your Style

When walking into a beauty store, you'll quickly find that there's a lash for every occasion. Here’s a quick guide:

  • Individual Lashes: Ideal for when you want to enhance specific parts of your natural lashes, offering a tailored look that maintains a natural appearance.
  • Strip Lashes: Perfect for a bold, dramatic effect. These are most common and are applied in one piece across the entire eyelid.
  • Magnetic Lashes: Great for those who find glue application tricky or want lashes that can be used multiple times with ease.

Choose the Right Material

False lashes come in various materials, each offering different benefits:

  • Synthetic Lashes: These are made from man-made fibers, slightly thicker, and lend a noticeable volume. They’re sturdy and suited for those who favor durability.
  • Faux Mink Lashes: A step up toward an ethical and budget-friendly version of real mink fur. They offer a soft, feathery look without the ethical concerns of real mink.

Match with Your Eye Shape

Your eye shape plays a crucial role in selecting lashes that enhance your natural beauty:

  • Monolids, Upturned, and Downturned Eyes: Fuller lashes at the outer corners can help create an eye-opening effect. Consider using individual lashes or clusters to focus volume where it's needed most.
  • Hooded Eyes: Individual lashes can make a big difference by adding lift in the center, drawing attention to the eyes while they’re open.
  • Round and Almond Eyes: These shapes benefit from a full strip of lashes. Experiment with different styles to see which complements your eye shape best.

By carefully considering your style preferences, the materials available, and how they complement your eye shape, you’ll be equipped to choose the set of lashes that perfectly fits your look and lifestyle.

Exploring the Different Styles of False Eyelashes

When it comes to false eyelashes, the variety available can be quite overwhelming. But understanding the basic styles can help you choose the perfect pair for any occasion. Here's what you need to know:

  1. Individual Lashes: These are tiny clusters of lashes that you can apply to specific areas along your lash line. They're perfect if you're aiming for a subtle enhancement, as they allow for a more tailored look. Whether you want to fill in sparse spots or add a touch of volume, individual lashes offer precise control.

  2. Strip Lashes: These are a favorite among eyelash enthusiasts. A full strip of lashes is applied directly over your natural lash line using lash adhesive. Strip lashes are ideal for those who want an instant, bold look, and they come in a range of styles, from natural to dramatic.

  3. Magnetic Lashes: If the idea of messing around with glue is daunting, magnetic lashes might be the solution. These lashes adhere to your lids using tiny magnets, making them easy to apply and remove. Magnetic lashes are lauded for being gentle on natural lashes and reusable, offering a hassle-free experience.

Each style has its distinct advantages, whether you're going for subtlety, drama, or convenience. With this guide, you can confidently choose the false eyelash style that aligns with your beauty goals.

Step By Step Guide

Learn how to apply your false eyelash at Thrifty Lashes

Step 1: Trim the Eyelashes

When it comes to false lashes, they are usually too long for most eye shapes and require a trim. Take out your Thrifty Lashes eyelash and hold the lashes against your eyes and trim the part that extends beyond your natural eyelash line.

Step 2: Add the Glue

Using a Q-Tip, apply a thin layer of glue to the base of your falsies. Make sure to add a little extra glue on the corners! There's nothing more annoying than the corners sticking out while you're out enjoying yourself.

Step 3: Apply the Fake Eyelashes

Here comes the hard part! Try your best not to blink during this process. Apply the strip to the center of your lash line getting as close to your natural lash line as you can. You want the lash to barely touch your skin, not the base of your real lashes. Lightly push down on the inner and outer corners of the lash. Feel free to use tweezers to place your fake eyelash on your eye, but you can also use your fingers to apply the lashes.

Make sure to take good care of your fake eyelashes! If they're taken care of and used with care, fake eyelashes can be re-worn and used more than once.

Store your lashes in the packaging they came in and they should be safe to reuse.
